From August 4 to 6, the 2025 Sino-Japanese Friendship Table Tennis Competition for Junior High School Students was successfully held in Beijing. Shijiazhuang City and Nagano City of Japan formed a joint team and won the runner-up.

The competition is co-sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the China-Japan Friendship Association, the China Table Tennis Association, the Japan China Friendship Association and the Japan Table Tennis Association. As the Sino-Japanese Sister-city Mechanism Competition, it has been held for eight times since 1990, aiming to build an exchange platform for the youth of the two countries to exchange skills and talk about friendship. The Competition attracted about 500 participants from 42 joint teams. Shijiazhuang City and Nagano City of Japan to jointly attend the competition.

Yang Wanming, president of the Chinese People 's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Wang Liqin, president of the Chinese Table Tennis Association; Masayoshi Kawada, president of the Japanese Table Tennis Association; Takashi Kawasu, vice president of the-China Friendship Association; Japanese Ambassador to China Kenji Jinsuchan attended the opening ceremony of the conference and delivered speeches respectively. The successful holding of this Competition made the meaning of "meeting friends with the ball" vividly displayed again. During the competition, the four members of the Shijiazhuang-Nagano Youcheng team were carefully coached by the skillful Chinese and Japanese coaches and get everything well arranged. They overcome the physical injury and other difficulties, adapt new environment, finally obtain excellent results through their unremitting efforts.

Before the Competition, the table tennis delegation of junior high school students in Nagano City, headed by Mr. Toshio Mi, chairman of the Japan-China Friendship Association of Nagano City, visited Shijiazhuang. The delegation visited the Zhengding Table Tennis Training Base and had a warm-up exercise with local players. In the course of exchanging skills, they not only refined their table tennis skills, more importantly, it has enhanced mutual friendship and established deep emotional ties across national borders.
